Mother's Day

I would just like to spend this moment to wish my mother a very Happy Mother’s Day.

Just like to thank the woman who raised me, taught me, and made me into the person I am today... well maybe not that last bit, that’s little harsh to say on her Mother’s Day.

So spend a moment to thank your mother today, or thank a woman who has been influential in your life, and thank them for the unconditional love.

Now that’s all for today. I have a roast lamb to cook.

Royal Wedding! Random Thought

The Royal Wedding! Can we get a collective cheer?

Now there are two types of people when it comes to the Royal Wedding. There are the ones who scoff who complain rather loudly about the coverage and there are the ones that wait with bated breath ready to see Kate in her big white dress.

Myself I am in the second category. While I haven’t been one of those people who have been watching every about the Royal family, normally I hear white noise whenever the Royals are mentioned, but this is different.

Why is it different though? Is it because of my soft hopeless romantic side or is it because I, like so many, need some escapism. Escapism, there is a reason why during great depressing times in history that the cinemas boom with musicals, comedies and films where we are the good guys and beat the people threatening our ‘shores’.

If we look around today we see people killing each other, mother earth unleashing her beautiful fury and the death toll rising all the time, so why not bask in a little bit of a fairy tale. With the death in the world why can’t we take solace in watching a girl becoming a princess without having the Disney accompanied soundtrack.

So a scone, a glass of champas, turn on your T.V and embark in some escapism, even if it’s only for a couple of hours.

ANZAC Day

Happy ANZAC Day!

The 25th of April is the most important day in Australia’s history, well to me personally. Its a day where Australia unities and remembers those who sacrificed for the freedoms we now take for advantage.

I am not going to use this here today to make some soap box flippant repark like some idiot who shouldn’t have twitter have, because today is not the day for that. Today is a day where we remember those fought and are still fighting now. Today we remember those who have been touched by the horrors of war and today is the day where we one day hope that the world will be at peace and there will be no need for wars, deaths and heart ache.

Lest we forget.

When the Edit is Finished

Hey all!

I told you I would keep you up to date with all the amazing goings on with the fantastic world of editing. (Please note the sarcasm.)

Well it’s done. Which may not seem like a huge deal for you un-objective third party, but to me it’s almost as a mile stone as finishing the story. I am a major procrastinator, which is why this blog only has a couple of posts, so for me to finish and have the outline for the next two stories (well really the next story) is unheard of.

So what now?

Well I am going to write a synopsis.

How do I write a synopsis? Good question, I don’t really know, but that is why God invented google.

Anyway this was just a quick post to keep you up to date.

I am hoping to post some other stuff in the near future that isn’t always about my writing, but this is after all a public record of me writing and finishing and hopefully trying to get my work published.

Keep Wearing those Fancy Pants.

I haven't forgotten the blog... sorta

I am so very sorry to all three people who read this (figures may be underestimated) for not updating you all on about what is going in the writing world.

There are many factors for this. The first and more important one is that I am at university and despite the fact that writing fiction is more fun than writing essays, sadly essays come first. Sucky I know.

Secondly – Editing SUCKS! It doesn’t suck so much when you are going off notes but I am in the stage of slowly going through chapters and re-writing huge sections. However I am half way through editing before I give it to the select few for them to give a test reading seeing if it makes any sense.

However as I may have already alluded too, the book I have just finished and started editing, is the first of a trilogy, and I have already planned out a fair bit of the next story and some scenes in the finial book as well as their working titles. So really in short I am excellent in procrastinating (I am meant to be writing a speech for a class right now).

I still have my 25th of April dead line in sight. And I will work on it a bit more in the next week. Hopefully working through some chapters.

So I hope your world is slightly less busy as mine has seemed to turn into.
Stay Classy!

FINISHED

Hey All!

So this is just a quick blog post about Charlie Sheen.

No screw that, I am winning because I just finished my first draft.

I have finally finished my first draft with twenty chapters and 96,457 words. I think.

So now here comes the harder part. The Editing and Rewriting part. Lets not also forget that I have just started Uni. But really who cares because I just finished my first draft of my first original story.

I hope one day you will be able to read it.

Anyway I'll keep you posted

Writing Update 2

Hi All.
I did say that I was going to update on my writing so here it is.

I am about three chapters from finishing and have just hit 90,000 words.

The problem is that I am not really liking the last chapter I wrote but that’s why God invented re-writing. This story that I am currently writing is one I have had in my head for a couple of years. I have tried to write it several times but each time I start it just doesn’t seem organic, the main characters voice sounds contrived, and then finally it happened.

It’s strange how things like that happen. How inspiration hits. It’s different for everyone.

Anyway small blog today, just wanted to give a little heads up. Back to Microsoft Word ready to write some more.
