The Royal Wedding! Can we get a collective cheer?
Now there are two types of people when it comes to the Royal Wedding. There are the ones who scoff who complain rather loudly about the coverage and there are the ones that wait with bated breath ready to see Kate in her big white dress.
Myself I am in the second category. While I haven’t been one of those people who have been watching every about the Royal family, normally I hear white noise whenever the Royals are mentioned, but this is different.
Why is it different though? Is it because of my soft hopeless romantic side or is it because I, like so many, need some escapism. Escapism, there is a reason why during great depressing times in history that the cinemas boom with musicals, comedies and films where we are the good guys and beat the people threatening our ‘shores’.
If we look around today we see people killing each other, mother earth unleashing her beautiful fury and the death toll rising all the time, so why not bask in a little bit of a fairy tale. With the death in the world why can’t we take solace in watching a girl becoming a princess without having the Disney accompanied soundtrack.
So a scone, a glass of champas, turn on your T.V and embark in some escapism, even if it’s only for a couple of hours.
